Video: Late Afternoon Pile-up Sends one to Hospital and Snarls Traffic

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — A woman is cut from her SUV after a six vehicle chain reaction crash in Columbus Friday evening. The Jaws of Life had to be used to remove Barbara Atala. She was taken to Baptist Golden Triangle with non-life threatening injuries.

Columbus Police say a driver came off Highway 82 eastbound onto the East Columbus exit and collided with another vehicle, triggering another crash. Atala was hit from behind and ended up in a ditch.

Traffic was backed up while crews cleared the scene. The Columbus Police Department is investigating the crash.
