JACKSON, MS (WCBI) – 64 Million dollars will be brought in to Mississippi’s budget through lawsuit settlements. Attorney General Jim Hood made the announcement today. He says 53 million will go to the General Fund and 11 million to the State Employees Health Insurance Plan.

The largest settlements come from Glaxo-Smith-Kline and Germany base vitamin maker BASF. Hood wants some money to be used for counseling and other programs to help released prisoners transition back into society. Legislators are still crafting the state’s six billion dollar budget for the next fiscal year.
