LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Many Lee county residents will pay $15 to $30 more in property taxes next year, but county leaders say it’s a small price to pay for increased safety. Supervisors have authorized issuing $8.5 million dollars in bonds to replace the county’s aging emergency 9-1-1 communications system. The new system will provide state-of-the art technology speeding response times in almost any emergency for law enforcement, firefighters and first responders. The bonds will require about a $1.5 property tax increase. That translates into about $15 a year on a $100,000 home.
