LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — More than 50 middle school students are learning the importance of leadership during the third annual District six Leadership Camp at Healthworks.

The program is designed to teach participants leadership skills, team work, and how they can an influence their communities.

Campers will hear from leaders at The CREATE Tornado Relief Fund, Salvation Army and Sanctuary Hospice House.

Program creator, state Sen. Nancy Collins, says successful leaders begin at a young age.

“Most leadership groups, classes are starting in high school, college and these young children can learn some good points and this is what we’re talking about, five little, special things that have to do with leadership,” Collins said.

The camp is free, but parents are asked to make a donation that’ll be given to charity.
