Video: Lee County School District Names Teacher of the Year

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — A Saltillo High School English teacher is awarded Teacher of the Year for Lee County Schools. Bethany Poppelreiter was given the top honor at this evening’s school board meeting.

She has been teaching for four and a half years and says she’s surprised at the honor.

“At the end of the day, I just love the kids and I think everything else just kind of falls into place, and some days, you know, it’s hard and it’s a struggle to teach motivation, and stuff like that, but I think they give just as much as I do and so I’m blessed to work with them everyday,” said Poppelreiter.

Poppelreiter will go to Jackson for the state teacher of the year competition.

Shannon High School Principal Bill Rosenthal was named Administrator of the Year.
