TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) -It’s not always what happens in the classroom that determines how well students do at school. Positive parental involvement can play a big role in academic success. Tuesday night the Lee County School Board singled out some of those parents who go the extra mile.

Parents of the year from all of the schools in the district were recognized, and Staci Bevill of Mooreville was selected as the District Parent of the Year.

“I believe that like this award shows tonight, that it takes everybody. This award is not mine. This award is twelve years of parents, teachers, and administrators who volunteer when I ask them to do something. And it’s just a great award.”

Even though Bevill’s oldest child will graduate this year, her work’s not finished. She also has a child at Mooreville Elementary..
