Video: Lee County Seniors Learn About Fraud Protection and Have a Little Halloween Fun

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – It was an opportunity for area senior citizens to get valuable information, dress up early for Halloween and have a hearty lunch. The annual “TRIAD” conference was hosted by Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson.Hundreds of seniors filled the fellowship hall at Tupelo’s First United Methodist Church to get information on various organizations that cater to the needs of senior citizens.

The sheriff says the meeting is a way to get information to those who have given so much to their families and communities.

“You can go in, as far with scams and things of that nature now and probably eighty percent of these individuals in here have been contacted but because of the efforts we’ve made through different programs we have had they have not become a victim of it because they have been made aware of it, warned about it.”

Northern District Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley also took part in the event.
