LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) -A Lowndes County strip club says a new county ordinance is costing it money, and it wants that money back. MEC Incorporated runs The Pony nightclub along the Lowndes / Clay County line.

Club owners say a 2013 law requiring alcohol sales to stop at 1AM and the building cleared by 1:30, has hurt the bottom line.

Managers say they always followed the 1 a-m alcohol deadline, but stayed open several more hours to sell food and entertainment.

The lawsuit says the ordinance prevents The Pony from making that money.

Lowndes supervisors say the 2013 law was passed to cover all nightclubs in the county, after a series of early morning shootings and fights at clubs near the Mississippi – Alabama  line.

No date for the Federal court suit to be heard has been set.
