TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — Selling cookies isn’t the only thing Girls Scouts do.

On Saturday, the Girls Scouts Heart of the South hosted the fourth annual North Mississippi Green Festival, which is an outreach program and visibility day for the Girl Scouts at Ballard Park.

Jenny Jones says it is a chance for the girls to sponsor an event where they can raise awareness about environmental issues.

“Girl Scouts have been protecting the environment since we began,” Jones said. “We’ve been green for 102 years, so it’s been something that has been really important and engrained in our girls. It’s something that we’ve always tried to teach the girls through Girl Scouts. And so going green and celebrating Earth Day and taking care of everything is part of what we’re all about.”
