COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)  – It’s all about money management for Columbus High School students.

Juniors took part in a Reality Fair as part of learning how to better manage their money.

In a program sponsored by the Junior Auxiliary, the students were given a mock budget based on their current grade point average.

Those with the higher GP’s were given more money to budget around.

Housing, insurance, gas, grocery money and other unexpected expenses were just a few categories included in the mock budget activity.

Students say it’s a good tool to get a jump start on a successful future.

“I just want to learn the proper and correct way to manage my money after high school and college, so I won’t be out there and get stuck. There is a difference between managing little money and big money. Big money is what you really need to survive in life,” said 11th-grader Jarrett Bates.
