ALCORN COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — An 11 year old from Alcorn County will be a floragraph honoree in the Rose Parade this New Years Day in California.

Andrew Loyd will be honored on the Donate Life Rose Parade float, among others who donated their organs upon their death.

Loyd, and other donors, have saved thousands of lives and given hope to many through being an organ donor.

At 11 years old, Loyd was killed by his mentally ill father, but those close to him knew he would want to continue helping others by donating his organs.

Members of his family will fly to Pasadena, California to see Loyd’s image transformed into a floragraph which will be apart of the Donate Life float in the Rose Parade held in Pasadena, California.

Organizers say they are happy to honor this young hero.

“It’s such an honor to honor Andrew Loyd because he truly exemplified life to the fullest and even in his death, he was able to give life to so many others,” said Randa Lipman, Community Outreach Manager.

There is now the Andrew Loyd Bill in Mississippi, which is in his memory and aims to prevent another child from being killed by a mentally ill parent.

His floragraph will be sent to Memphis to be finished by his family and friends.
