LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Ten new pine trees now stand along the pond at Dean Park in Louisville to honor the lives lost in the April 28th tornado.

A yellow ribbon was placed on each tree by the children who attend the ceremony.

The Modern Woodmen of America Youth Service hosted the event in hopes to replace trees that were damaged in the storm while beautifying the park.

Trees that were damaged stood 100 feet tall and were around 100 years old.

The event coordinator says these new trees will leave a legacy for years to come.

“I feel like we were so blessed and that children should grow up knowing the history of this tornado and this way a six month recover so we hope in six more months we’ll have more recovery to celebrate,” says Dorothy Harper.

Some family members who lost loved ones were at the ceremony.
