COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — The Republican primary runoff election may not be until Tuesday, but the Lowndes County circuit clerk’s office is already seeing a steady stream of voters.

You can vote by absentee ballot in person until noon, Saturday.

If you voted absentee by mail, the clerk has to receive your ballot by 5 p.m. Monday to be counted.

Officials say they’ve have a good turnout so far, and they’ve been expecting it.

“We felt like that it might pick up a little bit, and we’ve actually voted more people absentee for the second primary than we did the first primary,” said Mahala ‘Haley’ Salazar, Lowndes County circuit clerk.

Salazar says she hopes the crowds from Friday mean they’ll also have a good turnout on Tuesday.

She says if you didn’t vote in the first primary, you can vote in Tuesday’s runoff election.
