Video: Lowndes County Motor Accident Leaves Ala. Man Dead

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A Millport, Ala. man died in an early morning traffic accident in Lowndes County today.

Coroner Greg Merchant said 50-year-old Danny McCool was westbound  at about 5:45 a.m. this morning on Highway 50 near Steens when he lost control of his Ford F-150 pickup truck, crossed the eastbound lane and struck a driveway culvert.

The impact ripped the rear wheels and axle off the truck and sent it flipping another 50 yards before it came to rest at a utility pole.

McCool was pronounced dead at the scene. Merchant said he wasn’t wearing a seat belt.

McCool was on his way to work at the Lowndes County Port Authority when the accident happened.
