Video: Lowndes County Residents may be Deciding on School Bond Referendum

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Voters in the Lowndes County school district could be asked this summer to approve a multi-million dollar bond issue to for major new facilities at at least two campuses. The district is putting the finishing touches on plans for a new elementary school at Caledonia, high school in New Hope, athletic facilities and a centralized vocational center. The price tag could reach as high as 45 million dollars although architects still are working on estimates. The school district could pay for part of buildings from its reserves. The county school board could finalize plans at either its June 23rd or July 11th meetings. A referendum would be set for either late August or early September.
