LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A Lowndes County school rated as one of the best in the nation received some recognition at home.

Lowndes County supervisors today presented Caledonia Elementary School Principal Roger Hill and his staff with a resolution recognizing the school, staff and parents for being named a national Blue Ribbon school.

Caledonia was one of only two schools in the state to receive the national honor, and the only public school.

The award singles out schools that show significant achievement results despite a large percentage of low-income students.
