Video: Main Street Columbus Presents Annual Awards

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Main Street Columbus takes some time out tonight to recognize the hard work that goes into their many projects.

The Downtown organization honored a number of groups and individuals for their contributions. Design Awards went to the Catfish Alley Committee and the Hitching Lot Farmers Market. The City, County, and the Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau were presented with the Renovation Award for the revitalization of the Old River Bridge. This year’s “Dedicated Downtowner” Service Award was presented to Edwina Williams, better known to most as “Mother Goose”. And the President’s Award was presented to Columbus Arts Council director, Tina Sweeten – Lunsford.

Design Awards: Catfish Alley Committee – Mayor Robert Smith Accepting / Hitching Lot Farmers Market – Katherine Munson, Project Coordinator

Renovation Award: Old Tombigbee Bridge Project – City of Columbus, Lowndes County, and the Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau

“Dedicated Downtowner” Service Award: Edwina Williams (AKA “Mother Goose”, “Miz Claus”, “Miss Manners”)

President’s Award: Tina Sweeten-Lunsford
