OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)-An Oktibbeha County resident opposed to the Tuesday execution of convicted murderer Willie Jerome Fly Manning, has become a fixture at the Oktibbeha County Courthouse.

Long time activist Dorothy Bishop along with a handful of supporters could be seen holding signs in front of the courthouse Monday.

With signs reading “They Should Not Kill Willie Fly Manning” Bishop who is opposed to the the death does not believe death row inmate Manning is guilty in the December 19th murders of Jon Steckler and Tiffany MILLER.

Meanwhile the Innocence Project of Mississippi is working down to the wire to stop Manning’s execution.

In a statement released today [Monday], Manning’s attorney says they are still pursuing a stay of execution from the State Supreme Court.

They asked justices to reconsider their five to four denial of more DNA testing.

The attorney says that advanced DNA testing could prove Manning’s innocence.

The Innocence Project has exonerated seven people in our state through the use of DNA Testing.
