PONTOTOC COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Two men are riding their horses across the country to support veterans.

Matt Littrell and Raymond Avery of Colorado have raised about $30,000 since leaving Camp Lejeune, North Carolina on May 1.

Now they’ve stopped in North Mississippi.

Their goal is to raise awareness about the problems vets face.

The money raised is going to the Semper Fi Fund – a non-profit organization that provides financial support to injured servicemen and women, and their families.

“We are doing it essentially because there are a lot of guys out there,” Littrell said. “A lot of these veterans are kind of being swept under the rug and left out to dry. This ride is not only to raise money for them, but let them know that people still care about them. They haven’t been forgotten. Their brothers are still fighting for them.”

They’ll finish their trip at Camp Pendleton, California, hopefully in about eight months.
