COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The gun control debate has sparked lots of conversation recently and Mississippi Highway Patrolman Criss Turnipseed spoke at the Columbus Rotary Club meeting about the state’s Carry and Conceal law.  This month’s rotary meeting was held at the Holiday Inn in Columbus.

The Carry and Conceal law allows qualified Mississippi residents to carry a concealed weapon with a license. Turnipseed discussed the license requirements, how to apply and the limits of the law. He also says the law is currently in no danger of being overturned.

“There’s a lot of things being proposed as far as gun control goes. I think it’s mostly speculation. There hasn’t been anything that has come down or there’s nothing passed. There’s people talking, there’s ideas out there of what might happen. I think a lot of it is just speculation,” says Turnipseed.

Alaska, Arizona, Vermont and Wyoming are the only states that allow residents to carry a concealed firearm without a permit.
