NORTHEAST MISSISSIPPI (WCBI) — Two Northeast Mississippi residents got a chance of a lifetime — landing a spot in the movie “Get On Up.”

Parts of the James Brown biopic was shot in Jackson.

James Parker, a director at WCBI and Monroe County Courthouse Deputy Clerk Nancy Bishop landed roles as two extras during a concert scene.

“We were on set for thirteen and a half hours, but it was so fun and the director and the actors you know they kept us laughing,” Bishop said.

“They took the first two roles of the audience and they picked me for that because I had longer hair than I do now, and we just went there and we danced for like 12 hours to a medley of James Brown,” Parker said.

“Get On Up” is now showing in theaters.
