On Monday an Artesia woman went missing and family members are concerned for her safety. Lowndes County Sheriff investigators are needing the public’s help in locating the 40 year old mother who has two children. From what family members are telling us, Shondra Rice said she was leaving the house going out on an errand, and its as if she just vanished into thin air.

“So they called and said that she didn’t show up for work and so when that happened they notified my parents and we went to her house,” said Latonya Wilburn, Missing Woman’s Sister.

But Shondra Rice, a 40 year old mother of two darling children, was not to be found at her home just off Front Street she shared with her kids and their father. Relatives are concerned for her safety.

“She is very responsible and she loves her kids. She would never leave them for days at a time and not notify someone,” said Wilburn.

Clutching a photo of her younger sister, Wilburn and the rest of the family are holding out hope for the soon return of their loved one.

“And you know we don’t want to think the worse of the situation. But you know its reality you know sometimes we just have to think outside the box of everything, all scenarios, when we don’t want to,” said Wilburn.

There are a lot of unanswered questions, and family members are just looking for a positive outcome.

Shondra Rice was last seen wearing a red pullover hoodie, blue sweat pants, and tennis shoes. The U. S. Marshals are involved in the case. Anyone with information should contact the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department.
