MISSISSIPPI (WCBI) — Hurricane Aurthur may send more of that traffic to the deep south as travelers change their plans to dodge the storm.

With that in mind, individuals may consider setting aside extra time to reach their Independence Day destination.

AAA says almost 35 million people will be on the roads between today and Sunday for the July 4 weekend.

That’s up almost 2 percent from last year, and the most since before the recession.

Another 1.3 million individuals are expected to fly.

The official holiday travel period ends at midnight Sunday.
