PONTOTOC, Miss. (WCBI) — Sweet potatoes are an important crop in North Mississippi. Wednesday, MSU experts gave a crop condition update and shared research.
And it was mostly good news for farmers. With more acreage in production, and a mild summer, experts are optimistic about this year’s crop.

“The sweet potato crop in Mississippi is looking good. We are just over twenty thousand acres in the state this year and that’s an increase of about eleven percent from last year.”

The event was held at the Pontotoc Ridge Flatwoods Branch Experiment Station.
