Video: MSU Holds 20th Unity Breakfast

MSU Campus (WCBI) — Mississippi State and Starkville celebrated the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Junior today with the 20th Annual Unity Breakfast.

Over 400 people packed the Foster Ballroom at Colvard Student Union. MSU President Dr. Mark Keenum spoke of the University’s commitment to diversity, and its efforts to recruit students from a variety of backgrounds.

The keynote speaker was Field Brown, an MSU Senior and Rhodes Scholar. Brown points to the celebration of Dr. King’s Birthday  as a testament to the progress America has made in race relations.

The University also recognized the winners of this year’s MLK Writing Contest, Justin Brooks a Senior at The Mississippi School for Math and Science and Yolanda Kelly, a senior at Starkville high.
