Video: MSU Partners With Economic Development Groups

TUPELO, Miss. – (WCBI) Mississippi State University and a host of community colleges and economic development groups are receiving nearly $2 million to spur job growth and creation.

The U.S. Department of Labor is awarding MSU and partners $1.9 million dollars to fund projects that will bring jobs back to the United States and to Mississippi.

The multi-partner proposal outlines a “Make it in Mississippi” program. Officials say the program will help bring companies into the state and help them achieve success.

MSU President Dr. Mark Keenum says the grant shows the importance of partnership and cooperation.

“It’s a collaboration. Mississippi State University is a major research university and we’re committed to outreaching service and helping businesses be successful and partnering again with our community colleges who can provide outstanding job training and education for the workforce,” says MSU President Dr. Mark Keenum.

Dr. Keenum says the goal of the partnership is to create 750 jobs and have an economic impact of more than $40 million.
