NORTHEAST MISSISSIPPI (WCBI) — A string of bomb threats at businesses in the region kept law enforcement on their toes Wednesday.

Oxford police responded to a bomb threat which was reported at about 1:34 p.m at a local business. Authorities searched the area following an evacuation, and issued the all clear almost right at an hour later.

Another threat hit a Tupelo business only four minutes prior to the initial Oxford threat, and was given the green light about 30 minutes later.

The CVS store in Olive Branch also received a bomb threat similar to Tupelo’s.

At about 2 p.m. in Houston, a caller reported a bomb had been installed in the local Walmart, and demanded money be wired to a green card. Authorities say they managed to keep the caller on the line for 30 minutes, and traced the call to a number overseas.

Each threat was deemed a hoax after a thorough sweep of each building.
