Video: MUW Magnolia Chain Tradition

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – It’s a cherished tradition almost as old as the university itself. Mississippi University seniors carried out the 123rd edition of the Magnolia Chain this morning as part of the 129-year-old university’s graduation ceremonies. Carrying the chain of magnolia leaves and flowers has bound together generations of the historic college’s graduates. during this morning’s ceremony, Terrence Nicholson was presented the Spirit Award and the senior class gave a garden, to be built in front of Whitfield Hall, as its gift to the university. Three students also were added to the University Hall of Fame and Lockhart was recognized as the social Club with the highest grade point average.
