TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — Businesses throughout our area are trying to get back to normal three weeks after tornadoes ripped through northeast Mississippi.

Tupelo’s Neon Pig grocery and cafe sits on North Gloster Street, and was in the path of the tornado.

The restaurant received some damage, but electricity was out for about a week, the air conditioning unit was damaged, and some food had to be thrown out.

Since they reopened about two weeks ago, business has been good.

“We don’t have employees, we’re like a gang here, and all these people were out in the community helping, and in here helping rebuild. And at my house and everyone else’s house and a lot of people that work with us. People we know in town were really making a difference and doing a lot of hard work — and enjoying it,” Neon Pig Co-Owner Mitchell McCamey said.

The city will host a town hall meeting this evening for people who have questions about the rebuilding efforts.

There will be representatives from state and federal agencies on hand. It all starts at 6 p.m. at Tupelo City Hall.
