COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — The Columbus City Council gave its stamp of approval to one new administrator, and has begun preparations to say farewell to another.

Councilmen unanimously confirmed the hiring of Greg Lewis as director of the Columbus-Lowndes Recreation Authority.

Lewis has been program director for 23 years, and officially takes the new role Jan. 1 when Roger Short retires.

The Lowndes County Board of Supervisors also must confirm the hire.

Meanwhile, the city council accepted the retirement of long-time property manager Frank Goodman. When he official leaves next April, he will have been with the city 28 years, managing the Trotter Convention Center, Friendship Cemetery and other city properties.
