OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) –

A permanent conservator is put in place for the Oktibbeha County School District.

She has met with faculty and staff at the four schools in the district and presented her plan of action.
Since taking the helm of a district having academic shortcomings, Conservator Margie Pulley has already been analyzing school data and is well aware of the work to be done in raising student achievement.

“The school district exists for the children. And its important that the children in the Oktibbeha County School District receive a top notch education. I value education,” said Margie Pulley, OCSD Conservator.

The new boss is placing high expectations on teachers, Pulley is reminding them of their committment, requiring them to perform from the ringing of the first school bell to the last one at the end of the day.

“You work with people, you set the standard, you set the expectations. You tell people what you want and I expect that they will do that,” said Pulley.

And her leadership style…….

“I can be laissez-faire. I leave it alone if its working. I can be democratic, I can be autocratic when I have to be,” said Pulley.

Given the task of turning around a school district and leaving it a successful one like she did for three years straight before retiring from the Greenwood School District.

One thing is certain, Pulley appears up for the task.

“I came to work with everyone here, and we are going to work to make a difference for the boys and girls in Oktibbeha County,” said Pulley.
