OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)-There’s still no unity at Unity Park, but that may all change Saturday (1-26-13) when supervisors in Oktibbeha County meet with residents.

The public meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Oktibbeha County courthouse annex.

Moderator for the discussion, District 5 supervisor Joe Williams, hopes the conversation will lead to the nomination of a local civil rights and education pioneer to be featured on one of the park’s blank plaques.

Unity Park, built along with the Oktibbeha County education building in 2011, features four engraved plaques honoring national figures instrumental in the fight for equality. Local civil rights pioneers are not yet featured in the green space.
