VERONA, Miss. (WCBI) — Future farmers have a chance to show off their knowledge and skill during a livestock show this weekend.

The annual 4H District Livestock Show kicked off today at the Lee County Ag Center in Verona. The show features contestants from 8 to 18 years of age.

Some of the livestock will include dairy cattle, dairy goats, market hogs, and beef and lamb.

Contestants have been preparing for a long time for this event.

“These kids, they have been working hard all year with their 4 H or FFA project, learning responsibility, animal science, so it’s a really good opportunity for them to showcase their hard work and learn while they’re participating in these projects.”

The livestock show starts at 11 Saturday . Admission is free.
