TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – The Lions Club has made it their mission to help the blind and the deaf, particularly children.

This weekend they’re holding their annual state convention in Tupelo. Congressman Alan Nunnelee was the the guest speaker at today’s event and he says he’ll be forever grateful to the Mississippi Lions Club.

“Well I was here meeting with the Mississippi Lions Club and their state convention because I had cornea transplants. When I graduated from college, I was blind. And it was through the Mississippi eye bank that I had tissue that allowed me to regain my vision,” says Nunnelee.

Nunnelee told those at the convention that he knew he could never become a brain surgeon or an airline pilot, so he discovered how to be effective talking on the floor of the United States Congress.
