Video: Officials Examining Remains Found in Noxubee Co.

NOXUBEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Deputies are investigating possible human remains found off Elon Road in Noxubee County.

The sheriff’s department received a call late Saturday afternoon, after a man bush hogging some land ran across the remains.

WCBI was there Sunday morning as deputies, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, and the state crime lab investigated the remains.

Investigators still aren’t sure if they belong to 72-year-old Sonny McLeod, who disappeared April 15.

McLeod was last seen on Allen Bend Road in Macon.

“My uncle has been missing over two months, and some days we just want justice,” said Lashanda White, McLeod’s niece.  “If anyone knows anything, to come forward.”

Officials say the remains have been sent to Jackson for an autopsy.
