COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- Kicking off the holiday season, Columbus Mayor Robert Smith cut down the Friendly City’s very own Christmas Tree Tuesday (11-27) morning. Rain and mud did not dampen the fun in the 26 year-old tradition started by former Mayor James Trotter. The tree, a Leland Cyprus, came from Swedenburg Tree Farm. It will be placed inside the Trotter Convention Center and decorated in the next few days.
