OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — The Oktibbeha County Circuit Clerk’s Office is once again certifying names on a petition asking for a vote on a proposed school bond issue.

Oktibbeha County School Conservator Marge Pulley today delivered approximately 2,200 names to the circuit clerk to verify they are registered voters in the Oktibbeha County School District.

Circuit Clerk Glenn Hamilton says his staff is working through the petitions and should be finished sometime late Tuesday. Once that is done they will be returned to the school district.

The conservator is slated to meet again Feb. 2. That’s the earliest Pulley could call for an election date to be set.

Meanwhile, sponsors of a reverse petition which seeks to get people to remove their names from the original petition continue to gather those names. They plan to bring their petitions to the conservator on Feb. 2 before the school board meeting begins.
