Video: Oktibbeha County Antes Up for “Communiversity” Concept

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Funding commitments for the building blocks for the next visions for economic development in the Golden Triangle are in place. Oktibbeha County has approved two point five million dollars over 15 years toward a 38 million dollar, three-story job training university. County leaders say they hope rising property values will offset the need for a small property tax increase. Lowndes County has committed 10 million dollars and Clay County a million. The local dollars will leverage as much as 24 million in state and federal funds. The center is planned for 12 acres at the entrance to Golden Triangle Airport complex and will include training rooms, offices, dining services, showplaces for area industries and space for everything from health clinics to day care centers.
