TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — The Lee County Ag Center continues to attract more events, after years of decline. Monday morning, Ag Center Director Torrey Mitchell brought Lee County Supervisors up to date on how things have been going at the 20 year old facility.

Mitchell said since January, there have been only a few weekends when no events have been held at the multi-purpose facility. There have been a number of field trips, events such as barrel racing and gun shows. The director says events for schools have been especially popular.

“We’re fortunate we offer a couple of different venues, the fall field trips this past fall was our first year and it was the theme, ‘God made a farmer, dirt is good so God made a farmer’,” said Mitchell. “And , it’s around the harvest days and activities of harvest and so we got to have from surrounding 13 counties, north Mississippi.”

There are activities planned this summer, including an archaeological exhibit. There are also plans to get sponsors for the ag center’s signs.
