Video: Oxford Deputy City Clerk Charged with Embezzlement

OXFORD, Miss. (WCBI) — Oxford’s very own Deputy City Clerk of almost 10 years has allegedly been dipping her hands in the city’s coffer.

State Auditor Stacey Pickering today announced 46-year-old Alisa Liggins has been indicted on one count of embezzlement.

A press release states Liggins has been accused of embezzling $12,703.50 over several months in 2012 from the city.

Liggins allegedly pulled off the scheme by taking Justice Court receipts and delaying general ledger entries, bank deposits and utilizing future receipts to rebalance ledger entries.

She was released Tuesday on a $5,000 bond.
