NORTHEAST, Miss. (WCBI) — The rural road between New Albany and Oxford will become the road “more traveled” if tourism supporters in the region have their way. Promoters want Highway 30 between the two towns renamed the “William Faulkner Scenic Byway”. It links the New Albany where the Pulitzer-prize winning author was born to Oxford where he spent much of his life.

The scenic drive through Poolville, Etta, Cornersville and other communities in the rolling farmland and Hill Country bring back the scenes Faulkner often wrote about. If the state grants the request this summer, the communities will develop a plan promotion and other details. If that is approved, the Legislature must endorse it next year.
