PITTSBORO, Miss. (WCBI) — Pittsboro citizens will have the chance to legalize beer and liquor sales in the town.

Aldermen this evening officially accepted two petitions calling for a beer and liquor referendum.

Pittsboro City Attorney Ben Suber said the petition held 23 signatures, which was the minimum required to force an election in the small town of some 200 residents.

County seats under state law, regardless of population, are allowed to hold beer and liquor referendums.

Citizens will be able to cast a ballot between 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Dec. 2 in City Hall.
