COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — The American Red Cross was at the scene of Wednesday’s fatal blaze, ready to help families displaced by the tragedy.

The agency provided shelter, meals and essential relief supplies.

Workers were also there to offer emotional support and health services.

“Although there were seven families affected by the fire yesterday, all of those families had different needs,” Perneatha Evan with Northeast Mississippi Red Cross said. “However, Red Cross services remain the same. We are there to meet immediate needs of that family.”

Columbus is working with Red Cross to continue providing help to the families.

Civic organizations like Columbus Junior Auxiliary are also offering assistance.
