New Albany, Miss. (WCBI) – Union County residents had the chance to donate to worthy cause, Saturday.

A special booth was set up at the entrance of the New Albany Walmart to take donations to help the family of Union County Sheriff’s Deputy Clinton Frazier who was killed in a one-car accident on December 18.

Crystil M. Byers was arrested in connection with the wreck and charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving a fatality and culpable negligent manslaughter.

The fundraiser was hosted by The Police Benevolent Foundation Inc and the Northeast Chapter of the Mississippi Police Benevolent Association Inc.

Tommy Simpson is a spokesman for the group.

“It’s 501(c) 3 charitable organization and it provides monies for scholarships for law enforcement officers children,” Simpson said. “It provides assistance in death benefits to law enforcement officers families where the officers have fallen.”

Simpson says Deputy Frazier was a member of the Police Benevolent Association and therefore his family is entitled to benefits.

He says if you want to contribute, you can through a special account set up through Regions Bank.
