CALHOUN CITY, Miss. (WCBI) — Some Calhoun City residents are raising money for local kids.

They held a fundraiser with Judge Henry Lackey Saturday night for EXCEL – an after-school tutoring program.

Residents hoped to raise $7,000.

“It will help them continue the program,” Lackey said. “They have computers and every once in a while one of those will go out, and they keep them upgraded and they buy supplies. It’s just general funds to keep the program.”

Organizers expected more than 100 people to attend the event.
