NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WCBI) — The murder of New Albany head football coach Ron Price’s wife, Amanda, is still on the minds of the community.

On Saturday, they honored her memory with the third annual Amanda Price Memorial Run.

The event at New Albany Elementary School was a fun run, a 5K run, and a 10K event.

Members of Hillcrest Baptist Church, where Amanda attended, spearheaded the event.

Her husband, Ron Price, was very pleased with how the community came out.

“We’ve had sponsors come out and they’re willing to sponsor the race,” Price said. “It’s just an amazing event. It’s not only New Albany, it’s all of North Mississippi and surrounding areas, and we’re just thankful that folks are willing to come out and participate and make it a day that honors Amanda.”

The community chose a run because Amanda herself was an avid runner.

The proceeds from Saturday’s event went to several charities.
