TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — The Spirit of Giving was alive and well in Tupelo. Friday morning, parents who registered for the “Angel Tree” program there were able to pick up presents for their children.

Donors took an “angel” off trees set up by the Salvation Army, bought gifts on the list, and returned them to the Salvation Army. The organization handed out the gifts Friday. Major Jeff Daniel says the response shows the community’s spirit of care and compassion.

Daniel said, “People come together, and have really wanted to make this a good thing for everybody in need, have good trust in the Salvation Army and believe in what they’re doing so they support the Salvation Army to help these folks.”

More than a hundred volunteers helped with today’s event at the Tupelo Furniture Market.
