MOOREVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — A big show of support today for a teacher at Mooreville Elementary School battling cancer.

Students and teachers wore pink shirts in honor of Jennifer Rooker, a fifth grade teacher, who is battling cancer for the third time.

Rooker has taken an extended leave of absence so she can concentrate on getting cancer treatments, but her co-workers and teachers wanted to do something in her honor.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Department donated shirts to sell, and all proceeds went to Rooker and her family.

“It’s almost like she’s never left us, because we’re always thinking of her, talking about her. We’ve had several fundraising events in her honor to just … we want to keep her going, let her know we’re always thinking about her even though she’s not with us, get well and get back her as soon as you can,” Teacher Leigh Ray said.

Rooker is hoping to get back to her classroom next school year.
