Video: Sheriff’s Deputies Teach Local Children about Law Enforcement

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) -New Hope Elementary School students are getting a lesson in policing.
Second-grade students are currently reading “Officer Buckle,” a story focused on teaching students to obey directions and laws.

Lowndes County Chief Deputy Marc Miley and Lt. Clint Sims spoke on how to cooperate with police, along with the appropriate times to call 911.

They stressed the importance of obeying laws, but also not to fear police officers.

Students were given junior deputy badges and were sworn in by Miley at the end of the program.
