SHUQUALAK, Miss. (WCBI)-Friday, marks one year since an EF-3 tornado tore through Shuqualak in southern Noxubee County.

That was Ervin Hill just after a powerful twister tore his life apart.

Now, Hill and his brother, Tyrone, continue to struggle trying to get back what they lost.

“It’s been tough but I’ve been working with it,” says Ervin Hill.

As Hill reflects back on that devestating day,

He spends his time, ironically, similar to last year.

“I had taken off work that particular day to get my taxes finalized get them done with the IRS and one year later today I’m taking off work today to do the same thing what a coincidence,” says Hill.

Pieces of Hill’s mobile home and other devestation can still be seen in the small town.

With the past still evident, Tyrone Hill plans to remember last year’s storm by planting new life.

“When we got up this morning we talked about it was a year ago that it hit and I thought about replanting a couple of fruit trees out here to remember this day,” says Tyrone Hill.

The Hill brothers are beighbors and lean on one another.

They understand recovery takes time, but the men are thankful for the support that’s kept them on their feet.

“I thank all the support and donation that we received. I received and my family as well,” says Hill.

The Hills rebuilt where their homes once stood.
